History

Chitralada School was established on 10th January 1955 under the royal initiative of His Majesty the Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej to provide education to his children. First, the kindergarten was built at the Amporn Sathan Residential Hall with Princess Ubolratana and other three children as the students with Dr. Thanpuying Tasniya Punyagupta as the first teacher and the first Principal.

In 1956, King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodinthrathepphayawarangkun, or Prince Vajiralongkorn at that time, entered the school and Thanpuying Angkab Punyasthiti served as the second teacher.

In 1957, His Majesty the Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej moved his residence from Amporn Sathan Residential Hall to Chitralada Villa. The kindergarten was also moved to the Villa and His Majesty the Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej named it “Chitralada School”.

In 1983, His Majesty the Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej appointed H.R.H Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn as Chief Executive of Chitralada School with Thanpuying Angkab Punyasthiti as the second Principal of the school.

Since 2017, Assistant Professor Dr. Yuvadee Nakapadungrat has been appointed by H.R.H Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn upon the approval of King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodinthrathepphayawarangkun as the Manager and Principal of Chitralada School.

To this day, the school has accepted both members of the royal family as well as students from the general population and now offers three levels of education: kindergarten (3 years), primary (6 years), and secondary (6 years) levels.
